AI use policy

AI tools (large language models, code assistants and research assistants) are used extensively across WB-REI — for code, formatting, research, and to help summarise publicly available information about the businesses in the index.

Every use is human-driven and human-checked: prompts are written by a person, outputs are reviewed by a person, and the site is continually modified as we learn what works. No decision that affects a listed business is made by AI alone. If you spot something that looks machine-generated and wrong, please tell us and we'll fix it.

Privacy

WB-REI is a public directory of rural businesses. Business information shown on the site is gathered from publicly available sources (business websites, public listings, published directories) and, where a business submits a listing request, from the details they provide.

When you submit a listing request via the get-listed form, we receive:

  • Business name, website, core service, town and county
  • Contact email and phone number
  • Any notes you choose to include

Those details are used only to review and (if appropriate) publish your directory listing and to reply to you. They are not sold, shared with advertisers, or used for marketing lists. If you want your listing or contact details removed, email us and we will action it — see the contact section below.

Cookies

The public directory does not set marketing or advertising cookies. A small number of strictly necessary cookies and equivalent local storage entries may be used to keep the site working (for example, to remember filter preferences during a session or to keep an admin signed in on the private tooling). We do not run third-party analytics on this directory.

Data accuracy & compliance

Listings are provided in good faith and may contain errors or become out of date. WB-REI is a research initiative — inclusion is not an endorsement, and the site does not verify claims made by businesses. If you are the owner of a listed business and something is wrong, please contact us and we will correct or remove it.

Requests under UK GDPR (access, correction, deletion) are welcome and will be handled without undue delay via the contact address below.
